About Mass Open

The intersection of open source and AI in New England

Mass Open exists to build a center of gravity in New England for open source AI. To do that, we are creating 2 types of events to serve the AI community in New England and the Acela Corridor.

AI 101

AI 101 is a series of 1-day events where attendees will learn how to deploy and manage local agentic systems. Agentic engineering holds the promise of automating complex, multi-step operations once reserved for brittle scripts and manual governance and observation. In AI 101, you’ll learn the basics for buiding and running these systems, the open source projects powering them, and ways to make use of them in your daily work without accruing large token usage fees.

Mass Open

Mass Open will be our signature event, coming to Boston in spring of 2027. We'll share more details here as they're available.

    AI 101 - Washington, DC (State of the Stack)

    Our insaugural AI 101 event! AI 101 is a one-day conference for enterprise developers and devops professionals to get started with open models and local agentic engineering. Head over to the registration page at the DC State of the Stack event site. Registration is $50 per person - ask about group discounts.

    Agenda

    9:30am - 10am: Kickoff - the latest in open source AI management and governance
    10am - 11am: Getting Started with Local Models(Quantization, Harnesses, etc.)
    11am - noon: The Basics of Ontologies and Data Graphs - what your agents need to know
    noon - 1pm: Lunch
    1pm - 4pm: Hands-on workshops (quantization, constructing a harness, coding with agent personas)

    AI 101 - Boston, MA (location TBD)

    Our next AI 101 will be in Boston. More details to come as they are available.

  3. October 3, 2026

    AI 101 - NY, NY (location TBD)

    The AI 101 tour will continue to New York City. Details to come.
